Julieta Valero
Julieta Valero (Madrid, 1971) holds a degree in Spanish Philology from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. She has published stories, poems and articles in many literary journals, including Ínsula, ABC de las letras, Turia, Vulcane, Minerva, El Maquinista de la general, and Diario de poesía (Argentina) among many others. She has been included in numerous anthologies—Inéditos, 11 poetas [Unpublished, 11 Poets] (2002); 33 de Radio 3 [33 from Radio 3] (2003); Todo es poesía menos la poesía. 22 poetas desde Madrid [Everything is Poetry but Poetry: 22 Poets from Madrid] (2004); 11-M. Poemas contra el olvido [May 11: Poems Against Forgetting] (2004); Poesía pasión [Poetry Passion] (2005); Deshabitados [Uninhabited] (2008); Palabras sobre palabra: 13 poetas españoles jóvenes [Words About Word: 13 Young Spanish Poets] (Chile, 2009); and Fuga de la nada. 16 propuestas poéticas [Escape From Nothingness: 16 Poetic Proposals] (2009); among others. She is the author of three poetry collections: Altar de los días parados [Altar of Stationary Days] (Madrid, Bartleby, 2003); Los Heridos Graves [The Seriously Wounded] (Barcelona, DVD, 2005), which was winner of the IV Premio De Poesía Radio Joven de RNE-R3; and Autoría [Authorship] (Barcelona, DVD, 2010), winner of the XXII Premio de Poesía Cáceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Her poems have been translated and published in France, Italy, and Morocco. She co-directed and presented on the radio program "A ras de verso" (Radio Círculo del Círculo de BB AA in Madrid) for five years. Currently, she is a faculty member in the creative writing program Hotel Kafka. A long-time editor, she has also work as programming coordinator in the Fundación Centro de Poesía José Hierro, near Madrid.
