Carlos Pardo
Carlos Pardo has published three poetry collections including El invernadero (The Greenhouse) (Hiperión, 1995); Desvelo sin paisaje (Sleepless Without Landscape) (Pre-Textos, 2002); and Echado a perder (Spoiled) (Visor, 2007), for which he has received such highly esteemed prizes as the Hiperión, Emilio Prados and the Generación del 27 awards for poetry. His first novel, Vida de Pablo (The Life of Pablo) was published by Periférica in 2011. He has written the epilogue for Ángel González’s Tratado de urbanismo (Bartleby, 2006, 2008) and the prologue for Tomas Tranströmer’s El cielo a medio hacer (Nórdica, 2010). His poetry has appeared in the ground breaking anthology La inteligencia y el hacha. Un panorama de la Generación poética de 2000 (Intelligence and The Ax: A Panoramic View of Poetry by the Generation of 2000), by Luis Antonio de Villena (Visor, 2010); with José Manuel Mariscal, he compiled the edition Hace falta estar ciego. Poéticas del compromiso para el siglo XXI (You Have to Be Blind: Poetics of Compromise for the 21st Century) (Visor, 2003), and with Elizabeth Zuba, the anthology La familia americana. Antología de nueva poesía de Estados Unidos (The American Family: An Anthology of the New Poetry of the United States) (Cosmopoética, 2010). He co-directed the poetry festival Cosmopoética and writes for the culture section in the newspaper Público. His poems have appeared in various anthologies and been translated into English, French, German, Greek, Portuguese and Bulgarian.
